You may hear about spinning or preparing fiber, an ETSY shop, musical events, pygora goats and their kids, and the trials of refining my practice as an Occupational Therapist, as I try to juggle it all.
We have some 2 legged kids too. When they come back to the nest for a touch down visit, I might include some of that fun :)Elainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04654237378800541512noreply@blogger.comBlogger27125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066328638018167567.post-34938208454973265762010-09-19T10:15:00.000-07:002010-09-20T15:42:50.715-07:00The Spectacle at Harmony Homestead<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#3333FF;">The Goats were taken by surprise one recent Sunday evening. I was expecting twins, maybe triplets, but a single.. no way! Heidi was as big as a double wide trailer.<div><br /></div><div> Heidi was just starting to labor when I got home from work Monday evening. She was clearly having a hard time. After an hour of no progress, it was time to help her. As we in the kidding business say, "it was time to go in... "</div><div>So with a gloved hand, I helped pull her out. She sputtered and cried, and Heidi and I dried her off. I waited with Heidi for the next delivery, but she started to eat her dinner, and seemed to be finished with her business! So, after caring for the umbilical cord, giving Heidi a bucket of warm water and molasses, some hay and grain, and tucking the remainder of the kids in, I left for my much needed shower. </div><div><br /></div><div>Another kidding year is over, and we can breath a sigh of relief! </div><div>We have four doelings and one buckling and all are well. </div><div>New life is breathed into Harmony Homestead as only God can do! </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Elainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04654237378800541512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066328638018167567.post-60249341744435548972009-03-29T12:40:00.000-07:002009-03-29T13:25:32.976-07:00More kids !<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh41an46Hga3pmNSspex90PE65phC70tLbxaf1Zi-uAT5OjzQPTnq16QKn-gBonqgmxOuxrX_vnxMyl5uPYDr8ZxhgZ4vL1ceQFZWbJImydw-jaqYSRzq4W0aLVnM47y4NZq2zNpZ3Nkuky/s1600-h/P1020277.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh41an46Hga3pmNSspex90PE65phC70tLbxaf1Zi-uAT5OjzQPTnq16QKn-gBonqgmxOuxrX_vnxMyl5uPYDr8ZxhgZ4vL1ceQFZWbJImydw-jaqYSRzq4W0aLVnM47y4NZq2zNpZ3Nkuky/s320/P1020277.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5318697199617775490" /></a>Harmony Homestead Bolero had a set of twin <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">doelings</span> on Friday, March 27<span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">th</span>. I don't know what I will make with it yet, but it will be warm and cozy....perfect for an Autumn Path .</div><div><br /></div><div><br /><div><br /></div></div>Elainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04654237378800541512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066328638018167567.post-53342366961941490872008-07-27T08:21:00.000-07:002008-07-27T09:12:50.140-07:00Summer Breeze<div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1b0IoXO2OxEI-OI7DBieSvVW5Uh3DQhQYjwayWgCGCNFrwFKyAbsPJSapFVlfzjwatMfc2m8dGtqQ-UVuiqtFG5ZivloLfBVFBmLfdtv71P5ZIg0HD6_mH6qMIVcZdQlQbMSvzPBYKp4Q/s1600-h/P1010859.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1b0IoXO2OxEI-OI7DBieSvVW5Uh3DQhQYjwayWgCGCNFrwFKyAbsPJSapFVlfzjwatMfc2m8dGtqQ-UVuiqtFG5ZivloLfBVFBmLfdtv71P5ZIg0HD6_mH6qMIVcZdQlQbMSvzPBYKp4Q/s320/P1010859.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5227718793363526658" /></a><br />"S<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';">ummer Breeze.... makes me feel fine....</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"> July is dressed up and playing her tune." </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;"></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">Seals and Crofts </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:'times new roman';">Two of our buckling kids left the farm yesterday. She only had a couple of days off so her visit was very short, but sweet. She took some time from her Veterinary studies at U Penn to spend some time in West Greenwich. She has returned to Philly today, as she is on call tonight . We got to relax together, and she helped me a lot with goat care. At left, this year's kids are clamoring for her attention! <div><br /></div><div>We had another visitor to the Homestead this weekend too. A white Peahen wandered over from across the road. We heard a very unusual call and this caught our attention. There was a pure white Peahen, exploring our yard! </div><div>Watch the short video to see and hear her.</div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyg0fcnEAbYLiKjFij0XqYxtgaIjRxuqkMF6SZh6ZYc8jkmGQe5tYZ2Ydl8P14rDawgLHkUVQpzanUMynXiPA' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe>Elainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04654237378800541512noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066328638018167567.post-43578107169967654692008-06-27T12:06:00.000-07:002008-06-27T12:19:02.380-07:00Bongo Joins Trinity Hill Farm<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4dUV8bXSdrFCNA-a5EECymvkxei6pS42Aizfle3evyTnqqRaqC9zvQ8AuZxhA8aaaiAQHHksHodS7VhxhzENK1dsy160Kdwexpv179MntwFUhWAe3TFcd1kc6BBrq5vBYMzBHk51wii7G/s1600-h/P1000100.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4dUV8bXSdrFCNA-a5EECymvkxei6pS42Aizfle3evyTnqqRaqC9zvQ8AuZxhA8aaaiAQHHksHodS7VhxhzENK1dsy160Kdwexpv179MntwFUhWAe3TFcd1kc6BBrq5vBYMzBHk51wii7G/s200/P1000100.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216641993745670482" /></a><br />Well, we sold a sweet little wether goat named Bongo today. His fleece is soo soft, and he is so gentle that I am sure his new family will just adore him. He is going to Trinity Hill Farm in Connecticut. His new family is going to be great for him. They have milk goats, and some sheep and chickens, lots of land and pasture . They have children to love and hug him too :) I gave him a pedicure before he left and all the instructions for his care. Happy Trails Bongo! We will miss you but know you will thrive in your new home. Elainehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04654237378800541512noreply@blogger.com0
